Xenon Arc Weathering Test

Xenon arc testing uses a xenon lamp to reproduce the full spectrum of sunlight, including UV, visible, and infrared light, combined with controlled temperature, humidity, and water spray. It is widely regarded as the closest laboratory simulation to natural sunlight.

Solar Simulation Test

Solar simulation testing reproduces concentrated sunlight conditions to evaluate thermal and optical performance, commonly used for solar panels, automotive components, and outdoor electronics.

What you're afraid of: a coating that fades or chalks within a year outdoors

A coating or plastic that looks fine after a quick indoor check can still fade, crack, or chalk within a single outdoor season once real sunlight gets to it. This xenon arc chamber reproduces the full solar spectrum with adjustable irradiance and programmable light/dark and spray cycles, so degradation shows up in weeks of testing instead of a year of field complaints.

UV Weathering Test (Fluorescent UV / QUV)

UV weathering testing uses fluorescent UV lamps to simulate the short-wavelength UV portion of sunlight, combined with condensation cycles to simulate dew and moisture exposure. It is commonly used for materials most sensitive to UV degradation.

Light Fastness / Color Fastness Test

Light fastness testing evaluates the resistance of dyed or printed materials, such as textiles and inks, to fading or color change when exposed to light sources.

What you're afraid of: colors fading or fabrics degrading faster than promised

Textiles, inks, and UV-sensitive plastics that fade or degrade faster than a warranty promises turn into customer complaints and returns. This chamber runs UVA-340 or UVB-313 lamps at up to 1.55 W/m² with condensation and spray cycles, reproducing years of UV and moisture exposure on a programmable cycle you control.

Carbon Arc Weathering Test

Carbon arc testing is an earlier weathering simulation method that uses a carbon arc light source to reproduce sunlight exposure, still referenced in some legacy industry standards.

When a customer or legacy spec still calls out ASTM G152/G153 by name, a modern xenon report alone may not satisfy the requirement, and re-testing after the fact costs time you don't have. This chamber runs enclosed or open-flame carbon arc exposure with water spray cycling, built specifically to keep legacy-standard compliance available when it's still requested.

Combined Weathering and Corrosion Test

Many outdoor products face both UV exposure and corrosive environments simultaneously, such as coastal or industrial regions.

What you're afraid of: a coating that passes UV testing but fails once salt gets involved

A coating that survives isolated UV exposure can still fail once combined with salt spray in the real coastal or industrial environments it's actually sold into. This chamber runs short-duration UV pre-aging cycles programmed to OEM specification, then hands the sample to a cyclic corrosion chamber, so both stresses are validated in sequence instead of assumed independently.

Full-size panels, large assemblies, and high sample volumes often exceed the capacity of standard benchtop weathering chambers, requiring a dedicated large-format testing space.

Building panels, large automotive assemblies, and bulk sample batches simply don't fit in a standard chamber, forcing manufacturers to cut samples down or outsource testing entirely. What's the difference between xenon arc and UV testing? Xenon arc reproduces the full solar spectrum (UV, visible, infrared) and is the closest lab simulation to real sunlight — commonly required for automotive and solar applications. UV/QUV testing focuses on the short-wavelength UV portion of sunlight and is typically used for plastics, coatings, and building materials where UV degradation is the primary concern.
